Sparky watched as Speed leaped from the car, using its momentum to slingshot himself out. Speed landed perfectly as always, his knees slightly bent, his hand sweeping up in front of his face. Another race won, another record set and yet...Speed seemed sad, distant.

Even as the flash-blubs when off, Speed dropped his hand, walking away from the car, drifting towards the podium. He mounted the stage, taking the presenter’s hand as the trophy was pushed towards him, still drifting, still unfocused.

Speed moved as if on autopilot, smiling for the cameras and going through the motions until...

Until Racer X was there. Standing on the edge of the crowd, his arms crossed, a faint smile on his lips.

Till that moment there was no light in Speed’s eyes, not truth in his smile...till that moment.

Sparky turned away, trying not to show the gathering tears. If only Speed knew...knew how much Sparky wished he could be the one to make Speed light up like that.

It does break my heart that the OTP of the fandom leaves him burnt and broken on the floor +_+
