Title: Dealing with grief in their own way
Author’s notes: missing scene
Pairing: Bray/Lex
Rating: fairly Rish
Disclaimer: even if I did make money off this I would still be living like a poor student.
Author’s note: The scene stops and my brain takes over where the stars are.

Resigned and miserable as Bray walked across the broken glass “What happened?”

“There must have been fuel tanks down there. When the generator blew the whole thing went up.” Lex explained, fighting to understand it himself. “There was so much smoke it was…” his voice wavered, “it was hard to find the exits.”

Bray raised his eyebrows. “Oh. Every man for himself hey Lex?” Contempt dripping off every word.

“What do you mean by that?” Lex demanded defensively, “Look you’re only alive now because Ryan hauled you out.” Passion and pain filled his voice with anger. “You were luck!” he spat, turning away to hide the gathering tears.

Bray laughed almost hysterically “Oh I was lucky was I?”

“Look! Don’t blame me for what happened. You’re not the only one who…” Lex’s voice broke and he dropped his head; it was all he could do to hold it together.

Bray looked at him with mocking disbelief “What?” More challenge that question.

“I wanted to be the one to tell you.” Lex’s voice was breathless and low. “Cause I’m the one who knows what you’re going through.”

Bray fell forward, suddenly realising the gravity of Lex’s words. “Zandra?”

Lex couldn’t bring himself to answer as Bray shook his head in disbelief.

Lex sniffed, fighting back the tidal waves of tears long enough to get through this. “Look I don’t know if you knew but she was pregnant.”

Somehow saying out loud made it all the more real and he could no longer fight the grief. Lex slipped to the floor, finally given in to the pain hitting the ground with a crunch as Bray scrambled to his side. Silent tears streamed down Lex’s cheeks, washing clean lines in the soot, a strange contrast to the black teardrops he habitually wore.

He refused to open his eyes even as Bray lifted him to his shoulder, holding Lex as the grief ripped through both of them. So much suppressed emotion tore Lex apart and he sobbed uncontrollable in Bray’s embrace, clinging to the taller boy as if afraid of what might happen if he let go.

Bray let his own tears fall as he stroked Lex’s hair. He’d never seen the might Lex like this before, so lost and vulnerable. Even when the virus had him, Lex’s impulse to survive shone through. But now there was nothing. No anger, no will, no strength, just the black empty of despair. With sudden and disturbing clarity, Bray understood that without something to hold on to, Lex would slip into the darkness and never come back.

Bray pulled Lex closer, stroking his soot smudged cheek. “She was carrying my child Bray.” Lex whimpered beneath his breath, still unwilling to open his eyes.

“I know.” He whispered, somehow knowing that Lex needed him made it easier to push back his own grief. “She would have made a good mother too.” He eased Lex into a more comfortable position and brought the dark haired boy’s face up to meet his. “Look at me Lex.” He whispered softly.

Lex opened his eyes, realising just how close his face was to Bray’s, how safe he felt in the taller boy’s embrace and how much he needed…something…anything.

As if reading his mind Bray lent forward, capturing Lex’s lips, gently and slowly as if waiting for consent or giving Lex time to object. Which he most definitely didn’t. Lex returned the kiss with almost brutal fervour and bruising force, pushing his mouth into Bray’s.

Bray tangled his hands in Lex’s hair, pulling the boy back and trailing open mouth down Lex’s chin and throat. He could feel Lex fighting his grasp, the black silk strands tight between his fingers and Lex’s blunt nails cutting into his shoulders even through his jacket. He let go abruptly, afraid he’d pushed Lex too far.

Lex fell backwards, pulling Bray with him. Bray landed heavily, pinning Lex to the concrete floor, breathing hard as Lex forced his way under Bray’s thick leather coat and tore at his t-shirt. No longer unsure of what Lex wanted, Bray shrugged off the duster and started to tear at Lex’s clothes, ripping off the tight black top and nipping and bitting his way down Lex’s hard chest.

Lex bucked as Bray bit down hard on his left ab, moaning loudly as his skin bruised and reddened. Bray tangled a hand in his hair and held him down as he tore open Lex’s fly, stroking and squeezing him roughly, riding the line between pleasure and pain.

Bray covered Lex’s mouth with his own forcing Lex to pant through his nose. Drowning in the moment, he lost all thought of why he was doing this only that he was doing it. Nothing left of either of them but skin and need.

Bray forcing a knee between Lex’s thighs and squeezing him hard enough the make the boy whimper. Lex shuddered under him as he bit down on the sensitive spot between neck and shoulder, coming in his hand with a wordless cry.

Bray held the boneless and gasping Lex in his arms, uncertain what to do next. He shifted indecisively as Lex rested his forehead on Bray’s shoulder, trying to catch his breath.

“Bray man. Don’t.” Lex gasped as Bray started to stand up.

“Don’t what?” Bray asked fighting the rush of grief and pain as it crowded back in on them both.

“Don’t stop. I need you. I need this.” He begged in desperation, tears gathered in the corners of his dark eyes. Neither of them were ready to face the real world just yet.

Bray remembered the olive oil they’d spotted in the supplies cupboard and found it on the floor, miraculously intact. Tearing the cork out with his teeth he pinned Lex to the floor without a second thought, pulling him to his knees. Lex whimpered as Bray yanked down his jeans and poured the oil over his fingers and Lex’s ass.

Lex’s breath came hot and unsteady as Bray worked his fingers in Lex’s tight passage, losing himself in the sensation as Lex shuddered and swore.

Lex fell to his elbows on the hard floor, biting his lip against the burn as Bray stretched and prepared him. It wasn’t the first time Bray’d done this judging by the way he kept stroking that spot deep inside Lex that made him whimper and clench, hard again already and desperate to touch himself.

Bray pulled his fingers from Lex abruptly and positioned himself, pulling Lex’s lithe body back onto him. Lex moaned breathlessly as Bray buried himself balls deep with a single fluid thrust. No way was Lex ready for this and no doubt he feel it later but right now nothing mattered but slick of skin on skin and thunderstorm tension of orgasm.

Bray pushed Lex down, putting his arms under Lex’s and locking his fingers together on the back of Lex’s head, effectively pinning the dark haired boy down. Lex tried to fight it but Bray thrust into him, short and hard, making him cry with pleasure and pain. Lex pushed his shoulders back, meeting Bray thrust for thrust.

Feeling Lex’s muscles tense and his own orgasm build, Bray let go of Lex’s head and hauled the boy up to his knees, stroking Lex with an oil slicked hand, bringing them both to the edge and over it.

They fell panting to the cold floor, Lex’s hair damp with sweat despite the cold. Slowly they regained their composure and got dressed, neither willing to speak for fear of breaking the spell. Lex stumbled a little as he pulled on his jacket and Bray put out an arm to steady him. He looked deep into the dark eyes, there was despair there still but there was fire too. Lex’s fire; all passion and anger and the drive to survive. Bray knew they’d get through this now. One way or another; they’d get through.
