Summary: Another
[info]comment_fic  for [info]modestroad . Explains how Steph’s iThing got trashed, as mentioned in [info]kirax2 ’s The Perfect Gift

It was all the record company’s fault. They were the ones who wanted to market the Robins to a younger audience. The free, underage gig at the massive record store down town had swiftly turned into a riot of screaming fans. Screaming, grabby fans who all wanted a piece of their idols, even if they had to tear it off themselves.

Dick copped the worse of it, being the front-man and heartthrob but some of the more intense fans went after Tim. Jason grabbed Steph and Damian and forced them out a back door, yelling at them to get the van.

They ran hard but the hordes were waiting for them. They dodged as they hit the doors and Steph felt her iThing slip out of her pocket followed by an ominous crunch as someone trampled it.

“Go!” Damian yelled, “I’ll get it.” He dove back into the crowd before she could stop him.

“Shit, shit, shit!” She swore, shaking off her heels as she went. Why had she worn such dumb ass shoes to this gig? Any other day and she’d be in her doc martins and quite capable of running without fear of maiming her ankles.

There was an indignant fangirly scream and Damian reappeared at Steph’s side, her trashed iThing in hand and blood oozing from his hairline.

“D?” she started but he grabbed her hand and pulled, dragging her towards the van.

“Drive now, talk later.” He yelled, swinging her into the driver’s seat as he tumbled into the back, readying the back door.

They skidded around the building, dodging wayward fans.

“There!” D pointed, seeing Dick’s head above the sea of fangirls. Steph pushed closer, using the threat of running them down to get closer the others.

But the crowd was too thick and they started to swarm on the van.

Dick leaped up onto a bench, his shirt torn and ragged around his shoulders. He shouted something incoherently at the crowd, drawing their attention away as Jason ran for the van, Tim unconscious in his arms.

“I’m goin’ back in.” Jay panted, pushed Tim into the back seat as Damian threw the door open. “Dickybird’s going to get creamed out there.”

There was a solid thump on the roof and Dick yelled “Drive!” as he climbed down in the passenger window. Steph floored it, dragging the van off the gutter and peeling off onto the open road.

“Sound off.” Dick called, wrapping remnants of his shirt around the cut on his upper thigh.

“Tim has a concussion.” D called as Jason flashed a light in his younger brother’s eyes. “Jason has abrasions to his arms and face.”

“I’m fine.” Jay growled, running his hands over Tim’s head. “I’m not feeling any major damage to babybird’s skull. Must have just been a lucky shot.”

“Fuck!” Tim moaned, coming around. “That hurt.”

He tried to sit up but Jay held him down. “Take it slow. You bashed your head pretty bad.”

“Tim?” Dick called, sounding panicked.

“I’m ok.” Tim assured a little weakly, trying not to throw up as the world dipped and swayed.

“Hospital?” Steph asked, keeping her eyes on the road despite the tears welling in them. The adrenalin high was running down and she felt terrible.

“No.” Tim muttered firmly. “Just a mild concussion.”

“We’ll get you to Alfred ok. Just hold on. D? You ok?” Dick held his hand to his chest protectively.

“Just a scratch.” Damian muttered, climbing towards the front seats as he brushed the blood out of his face. “But you have three dislocated fingers.”

“I know.” Dick muttered quietly, a little pale.

“I can fix that.” Damian said quietly, touching his brother’s shoulder. “When we get home.”

“Thanks.” Dick whispered, resting his good hand on Steph’s thigh. “Princess? You ok?”

“Yeah but...” She pouted. “They squashed my iThing.”

The others laughed, a little shakily in Tim case as they pulled into the underground carpark.

Alfred fretted as the five of them dragged themselves up to the flat, leaning on each other heavily. “I saw on the news. Are you all alright?” He demanded, reaching for the first aid kit.

“We’re had better days.” Dick admitted as they lowered Tim to the couch. “I think the Robins just met their match.”

“Fuck. Defeated by fangirls. That’s just embarrassing.” Jay flopped down on the rug, his arm thrown across his face. “Ladies and gentlemen, the Robin’s have left the building!”

The Joker, Two-Face; no problem. Screaming fangirls; we're doomed.

also I have the strangest urge to go watch the Beatles 'A Hard Day's Night' which is odd because the fangirl chase scenes in that are much more wacky hijinks then this

Yeah but punching a fifteen year old fan-girl in the face to get away is not as morally comfortable as decking a villain!

Hehehe. Poor boys, plagued by fangirls. These an ACDC clip that’s similar, lots of running away and thrown clothes to stall them.

Single scariest villain they met: teenage fangirls (you know there's a few Robins Moms in the crowd...)

Oh yes! Far scarier that clowns and penguins! (I bet there was but they’re sneaker than the fangirls.)

Oh *man*. Poor Robins! Scary, *scary* fangirls! *cuddles the Robins* This was great, I like how they couldn't actually use their abilities for fear of hurting someone or giving themselves away.

I could see poor Damian going all ninja skills and killing lots of them but he managed to control it and still save Steph's iThing

I don't think they'll be making that mistake again. Anything involving fangirls and they'll have an exit strategy in place. Possibly including Alfred with a big stick and a pointed look.

I think somehow Jay would be the first to stop thinking ‘15 year old girl’ and start thinking in terms of threats to their safety. I could see him sitting on top of a pile of unconscious fangirls grinning if it came to that.

You seriously have me laughing for a minute or two...Robins defeated by fangirls. XD

Of course Tim would attract the more intense fans. Not that I would know anything about that. *shifty eyes* Remind me to be kinder to him in my next fic. :P

Love the growing Damian/Steph here. Great work!

We know nothing about intense fans here *tried to look innocent*

So glad you enjoyed it. I should be being nicer to him too. I do pick on the boy so!
