Jan. 24th, 2010 06:04 pmHey Gentlefolk.
Thank you all so very much for the support and prompts. I’m almost finished my 50 word table and it’s been a great adventure but I’ve got nine left.
Please, please, please help me finish this?
With your consent I promise to post all the fics on their appropriate communities.
Thank you all again!

One, Sparky/Speed for oxymoronic
Date: 2010-01-24 12:17 pm (UTC)Speed shifted uncomfortably on the bench, twisting sleeve of his jacket between his fingers.
“Penny for your thoughts Speed?” Sparky prompted gently, seeing the young racer’s distraction.
“It’s...it’s nothing,” Speed muttered.
Sparky sat down next to his charge, nudging the youth with his shoulder. “Hey Speed. It’s me. You know you can talk to me about anything.”
“Yeah but...” Speed’s shoulders slumped forward, resting his elbows on his knees, his face in his hands. “It’s just...Pop’s would be so mad...”
“You know I won’t tell him anything Speed.” This tension in Speed was scaring him, especially just before a race. “Just talk to me.”
Speed looked up at him, despair in his eyes. “Have you ever....thought about guys?”
“You mean...as in sexually?” Sparky prompted, keeping his voice open and level.
“Yeah...” Speed admitted, looking panicked. “I know Pop’s always says-”
Sparky hushed him solidly. “So do I Speed but you need to listen to me.” He touched the youth’s chin, pulling him around to look him in the eye. “There is nothing wrong with being interested in guys, or girls for that matter. I don’t care what Pops says, following your heart can’t be against the laws of God and it’s nothing to feel guilty about.”
Speed smiled weakly, leaning into his best friend. “How is it you always know what I need to hear?”
Sparky slung an arm around him, hugging Speed tightly as the call of all drivers to their cars echoed across the room.
“I should go.” Speed muttered, pulling himself to his feet. As he reached the door he turned back for a moment. “I know it’s none of my business but... have you ever...loved another guy?”
Sparky smiled sadly. “Get going. We’ll talk later. You have a race to win.”
As Speed jogged away, Sparky swallowed the answer, the truth that was choking him. “Yes Speed. But only ever one.”
