Hey F-list.

I’m trapped at home by a fierce heat wave and feeling listless. I need your help to get me writing so I’m calling out for prompts.

Speed torture 101.

Speed shivered, clutching at edges of Racer X’s jacket as the masked racer wrapped it around him. His own race-suit was torn and shredded, blood staining the white leather red.

“Speed, look at me.” Inspector Detector called, flashing a light in Speed’s eyes. The young racer flinched away, whimpering as his naked skin grated against the tarmac of the pits.

“I’ve got you Speed.” Pain cracked X’s voice as he pulled Speed into his lap, cradling the youth close. “You’re safe now. Just let the Inspector take a look at you.”

Speed bit his lip, his grip on X’s arm tightening past painful as David inspected his wounds.
Bruises and cuts patterned the boy’s skin in almost an artwork of abuse. The Inspector pulled a needle from his bag, pressing it to Speed’s skin. “Sleep now Speed. We’ve got you.”

A large hand rested on X’s shoulder as Speed lolled in his arms. “The ambulance is coming. Hang in there.” Jack said gently, his deep voice strangely soft in the echoing bay.

The Inspector looked away, touching his earbud. “Ethan and Frank are tracking the suspect. Jack – rendezvous with Minx and follow their lead.”

“I need to go with them.” X called as Jack ran for his car.

“No, stay with Speed.” David said gently, brushing his hand against X’s cheek. “Trust us. We’ll find the man who did this and bring him to justice.”

X nodded tightly, holding the sleeping Speed in his arms. He would watch Speed’s back, just as the team would watch his.
