Happy Birthday
oxymoronic ! Sorry it’s taken me a couple of days to get back to you.
“Sparky, you are the best!” Speed announced, flinging his arms around the mech in a crushing hug. “Thank you so much!” He called over his shoulder as he bolted towards the change-rooms, leaving Sparky to silently curse himself.
Why had he just agreed to do all the pack up so Speed could spend more time with Trixie? If he’d just held his tongue Speed would still be here, laughing and talking shop with him rather than running to hang out at Make-out Point with Trix. It wasn’t that he didn’t like Trixie, she made Speed happy and that was great but...
“You love him.”
Sparky swung around in a hurry, to find Racer X standing behind him. He hadn’t realised he’d been staring after Speed.
“I...it’s not...I didn’t...” He stammered, falling silent as the masked racer’s gloved hand fell heavily on his shoulder.
“Does he know?”
Sparky shook his head, trembling as he dropped his gaze.
“Meet me in pits after the party. Come alone.” Racer X commanded, squeezing the youth’s shoulder before returning to his own post-race pack down.
Sparky bit his lip, drawing blood in his panic. The Harbinger of Boom knew how he felt about Speed. This couldn’t end well.
***
Sparky waited till the Racers were ready to leave the after-race party to slip away. “I’ll make my own way home.” He told Pops, “There’s something I have to do.”
Speed flashed him a concerned glance, his baby-blues bright with worry. “Sparky, is everything ok?” He rested a hand on Sparky’s arm, the heat of his touch making the mech blush.
“I’m fine. I just...I’m meeting up with someone.” It was better Speed didn’t know. Whatever happened from here on in, Sparky had to manage it alone. That way, if anything went wrong, Speed would be safe.
Speed gave him a sad little smile. “Ok.” He seemed kinda reluctance to let go but he stepped back. “Be careful ok?”
***
Scared as all hell, Sparky made his way down to the CIB pits.
“You came.” X growled softly, stepping out of the shadows at Sparky’s side.
“What choice did I have?” It took all of his self control not to jump. “I won’t do anything to hurt Speed.” he said, sounding braver than he felt.
“Oh?” The masked racer asked, circling Sparky slowly.
“He won’t throw races for you either. It doesn’t matter what you threaten to do to me. I’m not...” Sparky bit his lip, shaking wildly now. The truth hurt but he had to say it. “I’m not that important to him.”
“I think you misprise yourself Mr Sparkolemew.”
Sparky shuddered as Racer X’s dark tone trickled down his spine. “Speed is an honourable racer. He’ll do the right thing, no matter what you do.”
Racer X shook his head. “You think I brought you down here to blackmail you?” He seemed genuinely surprised.
“I...but you...I thought...” Sparky goggled at him, completely confused. “But why...?”
“I know how you’re feeling Sparky.” Racer X came around to face him, resting a hand on Sparky’s shoulder. “I know what it feels like to care someone who you can’t have. I thought we might be able to help each other.”
Sparky’s knees gave out and he slipped to the floor. The only thing that stopped him face-planting on the concrete was X’s arm around his waist.
X carefully lowered him to the floor, kneeling at Sparky’s side. “It wasn’t my intent to scare you Sparky.”
“Oh god!” Sparky gasped, fighting to catch his breath. “I’m so sorry I assumed...I didn’t mean to imply...”
“Take it slow.” Racer X whispered, stroking Sparky’s back, waiting for the young man’s breathing to level out. “I’ve seen the way you watch over Speed. You care for him a great deal.”
“I do.” Sparky admitted quietly, still shaking a little. “But I can’t...he can’t ever know.”
“Why not? Are you afraid he’d turn you away?”
“It’s not Speed I’m worried about.” Sparky sniffed. “It’s Pops. He’s got some pretty strong views on homosexuality.”
X nodded knowingly. He remembered the fight the night Pops found at about him and still carried the scars. “I can understand not wanting to risk your job.”
“I don’t care about my job. He’d just throw me out but...” Sparky ducked his head. “He’d punish Speed. I can’t be responsible for that.” He sniffed, surprised to find himself leaning into the leather of Racer X’s jacket. “I’m always so worried I’ll give myself away.”
X gently cradled the youth against him. “I can help you with that.”
“How?”
X’s hand snaked down Sparky’s chest to brush over his groin. “By helping you deal with this.” he whispered, stoking him though the faded denims.
Sparky gasped sharply, his hips moving up to meet X’s touch almost against his consent. “Racer X...I...I’m not...”
“I don’t expect you to think about me.” X whispered in his ear, shifting so he knelt at Sparky’s back, his knees spread around Sparky’s hips. “Tell me about Speed.” He brushed a kiss on the side of Sparky’s throat. “Tell me what you think about doing with him.”
“Oh god!” Sparky trembled, breathing hard as Racer X’s hand slipped down the front of his jeans. “Speed...the way he moves when he’s in the car...It’s like...” he gasped, throwing his head back onto X’s shoulder as the racer palmed his half hard cock.
“Like he and the car are one.” X whispered, running his nose over the whorls of Sparky’s ear. “Like it’s an extension of his body. One you’ve worked so lovingly on.” He stroked a little tighter, wrapping his free arm around Sparky’s waist to steady him.
“Yes!” Sparky panted, his hips jerking to X’s touch. “The way he smiles...”
“You fantasise about his lips don’t you.” X whispered, “I’ve seen you staring them.”
“I...” Sparky shuddered, ashamed to caught out.
“Do you imagine him sucking you Sparky?” X asked, his voice low, his breath misting over the young mechanic’s skin.
“Oh...” Sparky moaned, snapping up into each thrust as X stroked him slowly.
“Tell me Sparky.” X growled, twisting his wrist. “Tell me what you imagine doing to Speed’s lips.”
“On his knees...” Sparky gasped, “Against the Mach 5...his lips around my...oh god!” He came hard in X’s hand with a strangled cry, spilling over the black gloves. Boneless and exhausted he fell forward, bracing himself on the concrete as he remembered how to breathe.
X let him go slowly, looking up into the shadows of the pits. “I told you.”
A figure in white leathers eased out of the darkness. “I’m sorry I doubted you.” Speed nodded to X. “Can you...?”
The masked racer nodded, getting to his feet. “I’ll leave you to it.” He squeezed Sparky’s shoulder in silent apology.
Speed knelt down in front of Sparky, pushing the sweat-soaked fringe back from his face. “You could have told me Sparky.” He whispered, cupping the mech’s face. “You don’t need to protect me.” He pulled the young man into a sweet kiss that stole was little was left of Sparky’s air.
Sparky stared into Speed’s bright blue eyes and cried.
